Lakers vs Kings: Can D’Angelo Russell Walk the Walk?

facebooktwitterreddit

Wednesday night the Lakers take on the Sacramento Kings for the third time this season

The last time the Lakers played the Kings marked the single greatest game of this abysmal Lakers’ season. Coming back from 30 points down in the second half to take the lead late in the fourth quarter only to lose in dramatic fashion, it’s unlikely that this game plays out quite like that.

After their previous meeting, D’Angelo Russell, who was instrumental in LA’s impressive comeback, talked a big game, saying that the Kings got “lucky,” and that “the world hasn’t seen anything yet,” in regards to his play.

Since that contest, Russell has averaged similar stats to what he’s put up for the season and so far his words have spoken louder than his actions, though it must be mentioned that he did suffer a sprained ankle in the Kings’ game.

It’s likely that the Sacramento players been listening to Russell’s comments on repeat since then and will look to make him eat his words tonight in Los Angeles. All of the circus seems to be surrounding Russell tonight, as another side story line to watch is the fact that he said he’d love “to prove himself” against his hometown idol Rajon Rondo.

Additionally, the Lakers have recently placed an abundance of players on the trading block, so it’ll be interesting to see how they come out and play.
