Despite all of the hate and rumors that surround the Lakers’ young point guard, D’Angelo Russell has stayed busy and done his best to let his game do the talking

Ever since the Nick Young video scandal, Lakers’ sophomore guard, D’Angelo Russell has done his best to fly under the radar —barring his recent hilarious commercial —  and earn back the trust of his teammates and the organization by letting his actions speak for themselves.

Though he recently spoke with the media following head coach, Luke Walton’s introductory press conference, the 6’5, 20 year old has made sure to stay busy whether it be in the weight room, but most notably by destroying his competition in Pro-Am games.

While it must be mentioned that it is just a Pro-Am game, and there didn’t seem to be any other professional players there, the ease with which D’Angelo Russell dominated the competition was impressive nonetheless.

In addition to his scoring numbers, 41 and 39 points in back to back games which eventually won him MVP honors, there are a variety of other improvements to Russell’s game that must be mentioned.

At Walton’s aforementioned presser, Russell talked about how he was working hard to “become a bully” this offseason and the sophomore guard not only looks visibly stronger but his ability to have his way in the post directly attest to this.

Upon first glance, it also looked like Russell had changed his shot mechanics — shooting a flatter shot, hardly jumping at all — but on the second watch it appeared that this was plainly on account of the fact that he wasn’t really even trying.

Man, look at those short-shorts…
