2. “Stretch” power forward
The Lakers desperately need someone to stretch the floor at the four positions. Antawn Jamison was an adequate option last season, but he’s far past his prime, to say the least. And while Earl Clark could fill the role, he was far too inconsistent to be considered a reliable option at this point. I think Clark could be a long-term option, but the Lakers could use some more three-point shooting off the bench, as well as more size.
Ryan Kelly and Erik Murphy are both players who absolutely fill the bill. Both have great size, great range, and would get solid playing time with the Lakers. Kelly has more range, has bigger size, but doesn’t have as much potential. Murphy has range, but not as deep, and he isn’t as good of a rebounder. However, he is a better overall offensive scorer than Kelly.
Both would fit the Lakers needs and both, in my opinion, would get playing time on the Lakers.
