The aftermath of Dwight Howard’s decision is still shaking up the NBA and the Lakers. First, Kobe Bryant took a slight jab at Howard, then Jodie Meeks (or someone posing as him) took a far more direct shot. Now, Phil Jackson joined the crowd, tweeting this and this. The zen master wishing Howard luck as an “Astro” is about as awesome as an insult as there can be.
The Lakers are still casting their wide net on free agents (despite not having reeled anyone in yet). Over the weekend, their interest in Lamar Odom, Elton Brand, and (most notably) Chris Kaman.
A couple of articles dove into what went wrong for the Lakers and Dwight Howard this season. First, Yahoo Sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a bomb when his article revealed the details of the players only meeting held in Memphis mid-season, specifically the battle between Howard and Bryant. Then, Ramona Shelburne’s article took a wider look at the season and why the “marriage” between the Lakers and Dwight wasn’t going to work.
We first reported that Metta World Peace likely WOULD NOT be amnestied. Now, Dave McMenamin is reporting the Lakers are likely to use their amnesty provision on him.
