Point Guard – Nick Van Exel

The 90s started with Magic Johnson at the helm, but his career was cut short, as we all know. After two years, the Lakers drafted Nick Van Exel, a young point guard from Cincinnati. Van Exel would instantly become one of the best scorers on the team as a rookie.

The lefty spent five seasons with the Lakers before being traded prior to the 1998-99 season to make room for Derek Fisher. Still, considering the five seasons he spent outnumber any other point guard during the decade, Van Exel is the option for point guards.

Plus, he gave us this great moment in the Lakers-Celtics rivalry.
