Looking Back: 1990s Lakers All-Decade Team
By Jacob Rude
Shooting Guard – Eddie Jones
Paired with Van Exel, Eddie Jones created a fun and exciting back court duo during the mid-90s for the Lakers. The highflying Jones was drafted out of Temple and, like Van Exel, immediately became a double-digit scorer. In four and a half seasons, Jones played 314 games and averaged just over 15 points.
Obviously, Bryant is the high-profile name not on this list, but he really did not break out until very late in the decade. The more likely player to be the shooting guard of the decade is Byron Scott. Scott was a star in the early 90s and eventually became a mentor to the Lakers late in the decade.
However, Jones was the more prolific player and the pick for the 90s best shooting guard.
Honorable Mentions: Byron Scott, Kobe Bryant
