Lack of Energy Dooms Los Angeles Lakers In Portland
After the Los Angeles Lakers lost their sixth game in a row, the ninth loss in the last ten games, Coach Byron Scott sighted the Lakers disinterest and lack of intensity as the glaring problem in the 16-point loss to the Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
This is technically good news to those of you who are rooting for the Lakers to continue to tank, however, it’s not exactly what a coach wants to see, especially from a team that is already lacking talent. Even though a premium draft pick would potentially have a positive influence on the team in the long run, it’s still embarrassing to see a team not even appear to be remotely interested in playing.
Forward Wesley Johnson shared a similar statement with his coach regarding the team’s intensity:
Fortunately, the Lakers (and their fans) will now have a long break to get away and take their minds off basketball for a while, as the team won’t play their next game until February 20th when the Nets go to Staples.
Guard Nick Young stated his need for some rest and relaxation after sustaining a left peroneal tendon strain during the second half of the game.
The break will give the Lakers the opportunity to comeback refreshed and energized, but unlike a commercial, this horrific season won’t end in thirty seconds. With twenty-nine games remaining in the season, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Lakers fall into bad habits once again and lose more games to due a lack of energy. This, however, would be good news for the tank supporters.
