Game Grades: Lakers Get Tank Back On Track Against Knicks

First, we’re going to switch things up tonight. This game obviously had huge tanking implications and the Lakers came out victorious with regards to the tank. Instead of our plain, normal game grades where you all complain, let’s grade the players based on how well they contributed to the tank tonight.

Basically, this is the complete opposite of the normal game grades. If you leave a comment about any grade without having read this, you get no explanation. And you must re-watch this monstrosity of a game.

MVP: Carlos Boozer was a one-man wrecking crew down the stretch. In the fourth quarter, Boozer had a two-minute stretch were he turned the ball over, was blocked by CleAnthony Early, fouled Andrea Bargnani on a jump shot, shot back-to-back airballs, and capped it off with a technical foul. That is elite level tanking.

LVP: Seriously Jordan Hill, what were you doing out there? 19 points, 10 rebounds, and a three-pointer down the stretch in the final minute to try to save the Lakers. As Ben Rosales of Silver Screen & Roll would say, the Lakers should turn down his option on principle alone after that game.

Stat of the Night: 40. As in the number of points the Lakers scored in the second half in their tanktastic performance. What made this more impressive is that the Knicks were “held” to 41 points in the second half and LA nearly lost by double-digits.
