Game Grades: Thunder Lay Boom On Lakers, Tank Rolls On
By Jacob Rude
In case you’ve missed recent game grades, we’ll be grading the players on how well they contributed to the tank.
MVP: Paul Pressey, who chose to not play Carlos Boozer nor Jordan Hill tonight in favor of more minutes for Robert Sacre (!) and Tarik Black. The result was absolutely zilch in terms of rim protection and pretty much zilch in terms of post-offense. Great move, interim coach!
LVP: Jordan Clarkson is the least valuable tanker tonight, and I’m not even mad. Part of what makes tanking ok is that you play your young guns and if they play well, then it’s a win-win situation. Tonight, Clarkson dropped 30 points on the Thunder and added a team-high 7 assists. That’s not the performance we need, but one we’ll take.
Stat of the Night: 68. As in the amount of points the Lakers gave up in the first half. Or you can make it 17 and 12, which is the points and rebounds Enes Kanter ended up with….in the first half. Either one points to how putrid the Lakers started the game, which was all us tankers could ask for.
