With the Los Angeles Lakers’ season essentially all but over and the NCAA Tournament in full swing, there’s never been a time Lakers fans should be more focused on the NBA Draft. Our co-editor, Jacob Rude, and resident NBA Draft expert Mike Garcia take a look at the potential names the Lakers could, or should, be targeting come June’s draft.

They start off by looking at the top five draft prospects, who have separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Starting with the likes of Jahlil Okafor and Karl-Anthony Towns, they project how the prospects fit with the Lakers and, more importantly, their current rookies. Would Towns with Julius Randle form a formidable front court? Similarly, what about Emmanuel Mudiay or D’Angelo Russell with shining star Jordan Clarkson? And they also fawn over their favorite prospect, Willie Cauley-Stein.
With the Lakers owning two first round picks, they also look at potential names the Lakers could be targeting with their latter first round pick, including guards R.J. Hunter, Tyus Jones, and George “Star Wars” Lucas, forwards Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Justin Anderson, and big man Robert Upshaw.
