The Nets are looking to make the playoffs in the East and they are currently in ninth place. They are 1/2 game behind the Boston Celtics, so they should come out with urgency against the Lakers today.
Although the Lakers have nothing to play for, they have played some good basketball as of late. They are 2-2 in their last four games and Jeremy Lin has been spectacular as of late. According to Mike Trudell of TWC SportsNet, Lin will not play against the Nets because of a respiratory infection:
The Lakers will miss Lin tonight, he is averaging 21.3 points and 5.5 assists per game in the last four games. Lin has single handedly led the charge recently and it will be difficult to replace him against the Nets tonight.
Lin is battling an upper respiratory infection and will likely not be in the arena. He just needs his rest, but the Lakers play again tomorrow against the 76ers, so he might not be ready that either.
