Lakers News: Team Expected To Sign Jabari Brown

A lot of Laker fans were not very happy with their victory against the Philadelphia 76ers yesterday. The win cost them some ping pong balls and the odds of landing outside the top five increased as well.

The fans want to make sure they keep their pick, but the Sixers are more experience tankers and they were able to finish the game with another loss. For the players, this was just another game, but Jabari Brown didn’t see it that way.

Brown’s second 10-day contract expired after the game, so he was playing for another job. He wasn’t going to let the tank get in the way of his life and that’s understandable. He finished the game with 22 points and shot the rock extremely well.

His performance was enough to impress the Lakers. According to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times, the Lakers are expected to sign Brown for the rest of the season:

"Rookie Jabari Brown, Clarkson’s college teammate at Missouri, likely earned a job the rest of the season after scoring 22 points. Monday night marked the end of his second 10-day contract, and the Lakers were expected to sign him the rest of the way after its expiration.“I feel like I helped myself tonight,” said Brown, who made seven of 10 shots."

Brown has been a bright spot since being called up from the D-League and took advantage of his opportunity. In a season where everything seems to be going wrong for the Lakers, they’ve managed to find some diamonds in the rough.

Brown’s familiarity with Jordan Clarkson has made it easier for him to make the transition to the NBA. Yesterday they combined to score 48 points and while they are not the best back court in the league, they have proven to be effective offensively.
