The Lakers will be entering free agency looking to haul in some talented players for next season. After failing to attract quality players these last two free agency periods, this summer will be crucial for the Lakers.

The Lakers have plenty of money to work with and there is plenty of free agents to choose from, but will they be interested in coming to Los Angeles? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, the Lakers will need to be aggressive.
Mitch Kupchak will be very busy when July starts, but which players will the Lakers target? According to Shaun Powell of NBA.com, the Lakers will pursue Carroll in free agency:
"Carroll will be in demand and has raised his value to the point where he could triple his salary come 2015-16. But he’s a late-bloomer (28 years old) who doesn’t have a long track record for playing at this level. Interested teams must decide whether Carroll’s best years are indeed ahead of him, or if he’s a role player taking advantage of the Hawks’ system. With the salary cap expected to jump, the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks or Dallas Mavericks (among other teams) could force the Hawks’ financial hand."
Carroll has been part of a Hawks team that finished with the top seed in the Eastern Conference. He averaged 12.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this past season. At 28 years old, this could be Carroll’s most lucrative contract of his career, so he will be looking for big money.
With so many restricted free agents in play this summer, Carroll could be one of the realistic players the Lakers can sign. It will take more than Carroll to declare it a successful summer, but he can definitely can be a valuable piece.
