It’s been a few days now and the Lakers are still waiting on LaMarcus Aldridge. All other players the Lakers targeted have chosen to go elsewhere. Now, the Lakers don’t have many options left.
Robin Lopez was on their radar, but he picked the Knicks. Mitch Kupchak has now shifted his focus to the small forward position. According to Chris Broussard of ESPN, the Lakers have shown interest in Corey Brewer:
Brewer is an athletic wing that can hit the three at a decent rate. The Florida Gator is 29 years old and at 6-foot-9, Brewer is a versatile forward who defend very well. Brewer would be an excellent addition to a team that were poor defensively last season.
With the exception of Kobe Bryant, the Lakers will be young and able to run the floor. Brewer thrives on flashing to the basket and he would be the perfect wing to guard the opposition’s best perimeter player.
After failing to attract other free agents, the Lakers don’t have many options left. Brewer would make this team better, but will the Lakers be willing to spend?
