If today was the start of free agency, the Lakers would have been the most active team in the league. The Lakers have added the Sixth Man of the Year and they could be doing a sign and trade deal with the Dallas Mavericks because they want Jeremy Lin.

After days where it seemed like the Lakers were only waiting for LaMarcus Aldridge to make his decision, it’s good to actually see Mitch Kupchak making some moves to shake up the roster.
It looks like the Williams deal was only the beginning. According to Marc J. Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Lakers and Brandon Bass have agreed to a deal:
This is a great pick-up by the Lakers. While he is a bit undersized for a power forward, Bass brings great energy every time he is on the floor. He averaged 10.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last season with the hated Celtics, but now Bass gets to put on some better colors.
The Lakers were reportedly interested in unloading some players to clear the space for Hibbert. Which is why it makes the Bass acquisition interesting. Kupchak must be confident the Lakers will eventually create some room. Nick Young and Ryan Kelly have been names that have been thrown around recently. Next year’s roster could look completely different than last season.
