The Lakers have a better idea of what their roster will look like next season. The acquisition of Roy Hibbert and Lou Williams give the Lakers the defensive big man they were looking for and a potent scoring option off the bench.

It wouldn’t be surprising if the Lakers made some other minor moves, but don’t expect a big splash. While free agency didn’t give the Lakers they players they had hoped for, you have to commend Mitch Kupchak for the recent moves he’s made.

Kupchak might not be done. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the Dallas Mavericks are interested in acquiring Jeremy Lin through a sign and trade deal with the Lakers:

Not sure what the Lakers could get from Dallas, but it’s something Kupchak must consider. Whether it’s a pick or a player, the Lakers should always be looking to add assets and this could be a good opportunity to do so.

With very little cap space, the Mavs don’t have another alternative. The Lakers got a pick because they took Lin’s contract from the Rockets last season. Now, the Lakers can possibly use Lin to their advantage as he looks for a new home.
