The lottery, draft, rumors, trade and everything else are starting to look like recent history. Today, the Lakers summer team gathered for its first practice together and had plenty to say afterward.

First, they spoke about competing in the Las Vegas Summer League this weekend:
Of the quotes taken today, this was probably my favorite. Russell’s competitive nature shines through here. Look at the Lakers first few games. They’re all against high lottery picks. I’d venture a guess to say Russell’s had those games circled since he was first drafted, when he’ll either have the opportunity to prove he deserved to be taken second or potentially even plant the seeds to make the Timberwolves wish they’d have taken him first.
Then, they mentioned what playing together might be like. Spoiler alert: They’re excited.
Honestly, I just pasted this here because the thought of pick and rolls with these two is simply captivating, and I haven’t even seen one take place yet. COME ON, FRIDAY, GET HERE ALREADY.
We also got a Jordan Clarkson update. He’s apparently been adding to his game.
Clarkson’s adding the three-point shot makes the backcourt with him and Russell pretty versatile. Now, the skeptics out there might say they’ll believe that range when they see it, and that’s fair, but if both guards can shoot and handle the ball, there’s really no reason why the tandem wouldn’t succeed together.
And lastly, there’s this: A pretty cool picture of the team together.
