Out of all deals the Lakers have made, they Williams signing is the most surprising. He is a very good player and the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, but now the Lakers have two players that love to score, Williams and Nick Young.

Some believed Young would eventually get dealt to free up cap space, but that does not seem to be the case. According to Bill Oram of the OC Register, the Lakers have no plans to trade Young:

The Lakers will have no problem scoring the rock next season. With Young and Williams potentially coming off the bench, Byron Scott could have one of the best scoring second units in the league. However, defensively they won’t be very good with both of them on the floor.

Young could be a nice weapon for a team contending for a title, but with a little over $16 million left in his contract, teams are not eager to trade for Swaggy P. Young probably prefers to stay in Los Angeles and will at least get an opportunity to start the season with the Lakers. It will be interesting to see how Young embraces his role next season.
