Lakers Rumors: Team Interested In Trading For Ty Lawson
By Alex Torres
Most of the notable free agents are off the market. The Lakers rebounded nicely after failing to lure any notable players to Los Angeles, but they won’t be contending next season. The roster looks to be finalized, but it was rumored that the Lakers might be looking to unload Nick Young, Ryan Kelly or Robert Sacre, but nothing has materialized.

The Lakers are pretty set at the point guard position with the selection of D’Angelo Russell in this year’s NBA Draft, but they could be looking to add another talented ball handler.
According to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the Lakers are one of several teams interested in trading for Ty Lawson:
"Despite a second DUI arrest in the last six months, embattled Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson is generating interest on the trade market, NBA sources told SI.com. Houston, Detroit and the L.A. Lakers are among the teams that have expressed interest in Lawson recently, and there remains a strong possibility the Nuggets could unload Lawson before training camp."
The Nuggets also drafted a point guard this year. They selected Emmanuel Mudiay with the seventh overall pick although they had the talented Lawson on the roster. Mudiay worked out for the Lakers, but he fell to the Nuggets and his selection probably means Lawson was eventually going to be dealt.
Lawson said in a video that he expected to be traded and it looks like he might have been right. The point guard out of North Carolina has run into some trouble with the law. He recently received his second DUI while he was in Los Angeles, making it easier for Denver to trade him.
While Lawson is a good player, Russell’s development is far more important. Lawson is young and expects to be on the floor. He is better suited to play elsewhere, but maybe Mitch Kupchak has something up his sleeve.
