Kobe Bryant started his preparation for retirement long before you even realized it
First announcing his retirement via The Players Tribune, Kobe Bryant also took the opportunity to publicize a company he’ll be running after life in the NBA.
On “Hero/Villain” letter head, STAPLES Center gave said letter out to every fan the first home game after his announcement.
Though it was assumed that HV was the company Kobe would be moving forward with, it was recently reported that the Black Mamba has also recently created “Kobe Studios” in corporation with “Kobe Inc.”
Similar to The Players’ Tribune, it seems that Hero/Villain, Kobe Inc and Kobe Studios will all be attempting to “bring others’ stories to life in a variety of media.”
In her recent interview with Kobe, OC Register’s, Janis Carr, revealed many new insights about Kobe’s retirement plans.
"“What my passion is now is creating the story,” Bryant told the Register. “Creating the story and finding the best possible way, the medium which that story can live.”Bryant said those stories will be told through movies, books and “any area in which content is distributed and created.”“Some stories will be created. Some stories will be fantasy in nature, others reality-based,” he said. “But we will look for content that inspires a generation of people.”"
When hearing his retirement plans early on, it seemed that Kobe would be doing a quasi video version of The Players’ Tribune, which was confusing seeing how he holds stake in TPT.

However, now it seems that he’s trying to do it all: this is to say, that the stories he creates will not be solely sports tales.
Kobe’s determination and will to succeed have been on display for the past 20 years on the basketball court, but it’s interesting to see how he’s taken this same passion and translated it towards his next endeavor.
Attesting to his “no days off” persona, it doesn’t seem like Kobe will be slowing down anytime soon.
Carr went on to reveal that even before announcing his retirement, Kobe met with the likes of “Oprah Winfrey, Nike CEO Mark Parker and Jony Ive of Apple” even searching out Giorgio Armani.
"The one thing that is the common denominator among them all are that they all have the ability to understand people, to communicate properly, to have vision, to have guts and to have this kind of patient persistence in the process"
While exactly what type of pieces Bryant will be producing remain to be determined, it’s yet another intriguing story line added to the Kobe Bryant retirement tour.
