Five players in the South Region of the 2016 NCAA Tournament that the Lakers should watch

The 2016 NCAA Tournament field is now set and everyone is furiously filling out their brackets trying to construct the perfect set of picks. However, the Los Angeles Lakers and every other team around the NBA (except the Brooklyn Nets, because of course) is setting up their scouts to head to the various tournament sites to see which players can contribute at the next level.

Obviously the top-tier draft picks are going to be scouted at the NCAA Tournament to see how they perform under the bright lights of March Madness and what they can particularly contribute at the next level. However, the scouting goes much deeper than the potential lottery picks.

Not only are teams looking for potential sleepers that they can grab in the second-round, but there is also scouting going on regarding players that will likely go undrafted that can be signed later and either developed or stashed to develop in the D-League.

The point is that the NCAA Tournament is the time for NBA teams to really keep their eye on every player to see if they could and what they could contribute at the professional level.

With that in mind, these are five players the Lakers should watch thoroughly in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament, or the region with Kansas as the No. 1 seed.
