D’Angelo Russell Being Shunned by Teammates After Nick Young Video Incident

Just when you thought the storm had passed, the D’Angelo Russell Nick Young drama is back in full effect

Early last week, video of Lakers’ rookie, D’Angelo Russell, recording teammate, Nick Young, emerged of the former leading the latter into a comprising conversation.

In the short one minute video, Young seems to admit to cheating on fiance, Iggy Azalea, who weighed in on the situation this morning.

However, Russell’s teammates aren’t taking the news as lightly as the pop star, and instead are reportedly “isolating” the 19 year old.

Per Baxter Holmes and Marc Stein of ESPN,

"The emergence of the video, sources said, has been the talk of the locker room for the past several days and has led to a tangible strain between Russell and some teammates. At a recent breakfast meeting, one source said, no Laker would sit with Russell at his table. The source added that, in another instance, Russell came into the locker room and sat next to guard Lou Williams, who got up and walked away."

"“It’s bad,” one team source told ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne. “It’s about as bad as it can get. There were trust issues already. Now there’s no trust.”"

One step forward, three giant steps back.

At its basest, the NBA is a glorified fraternity, and when you seem to purposely out one of your brothers, that likely won’t sit well with the others. This is perfectly exemplified by how Russell’s teammates are handling the situation.

Let’s get one thing straight, if what Young admitted is true, he is by no means blameless in this whole mess, but when it comes to Russell, the question must be asked, why? Why let the video be posted, let alone record it in the first place?

With the NBA draft and free agency coming up, this scandal couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Purple and Gold and it doesn’t appear to be getting swept under the rug anytime soon.
