A look at when the 2016 NBA Draft Combine will be held so the Lakers can get one last look at prospects
The Los Angeles Lakers and the first-round of the 2016 NBA Draft have a complicated relationship right now. As they look longingly at the draft after finishing the 2015-16 regular season with the second-worst record in the league, their first-round pick could either bring along painful notions or could be a major part in turning the organization in a more positive direction.
Obviously the complications with the pick arise from the fact that it is a top-3 protected pick owed to the Philadelphia 76ers. If the pick falls inside the top-3 at the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery, the Lakers will get to keep the pick and will add a piece to their young core to help get the organization back to their winning ways. If the lottery doesn’t work in their favor, though, the pick transfers to the Sixers.
That’ obviously sheds a light of uncertainty on the draft for the Lakers, but it shouldn’t change the way they’re approaching the draft and scouting even slightly. They still need to do everything in their power to figure out which prospects have the most talent, fit the best in LA, and everything in between. Obviously the NBA Draft Combine is a great place to do that.
While the combine for other leagues is a big event, the NBA Draft Combine is a bit more low-key. As such, many fans may not be as up to speed with the particulars regarding the event as they would like to be to keep up with scouting before the draft.
