A few big dates are just around the corner for the LA Lakers, the biggest one hopefully being the 2016 NBA Draft

By now we are all relatively acquainted with the fact that by locking up the second worst record overall in the association, the Los Angeles Lakers also acquired the 55.8 percent chance of keeping their draft pick that came along with it.

The Purple and Gold will have to wait just about two more weeks to find out whether or not they will actually retain the pick when the 2016 Draft Lottery rolls around on Tuesday, May 17.

Even prior to that, the franchise will get their look at the prospective picks — likely Brandon Ingram, Ben Simmons and perhaps Jamal Murray or Chris Dunn — in Chicago at the Draft Combine which will be held on May 11th through the 15th.

Though the brass is likely already set on a prospect they have in mind, it is not rare to see a lower prospect jump to the top of the draft board based off of his Combine numbers and personal pre-draft workouts.

However, the team would be wise to use the players’ season long statistics as well in order to avoid another Jonny Flynn-esque mishap.

The actual 2016 NBA Draft will fall on Monday, June 23 at 4PM (Pacific Time) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Whether or not fans will be watching anxiously in hopes of a better tomorrow or avoid it at all cost to keep from falling even further into depression will be determined at the lottery a month or so prior.

Until then, keep your fingers crossed and pray that the IOU check from the NBA for the botched Chris Paul trade is finally ready to be cashed.
