Lakers’ guard, D’Angelo Russell continues to prove that scoring will be no problem this upcoming season

One-on-one battles have become a staple of Team USA summer camps and the Lakers finally have horses in the race this summer with D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram headlining the USA Select Team.

Made prominent by the likes of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Paul George, the rules of “King of the Court” are simple: players play one-on-one and if you score you stay on the court, if you don’t, you go to the end of the line and the defender is now on offense.

Though players often play the game against coaches like Monty Williams, match ups between elite players are really what the fans are excited to see.

This training camp, however, it is not only the members of Team USA who are getting coverage but also players on the Select Team with specific focus on Lakers’ point guard, D’Angelo Russell who has been recorded cooking his opponents on multiple occasions.

Here, Russell easily knocks down routine jumpers over Marcus Smart, Devin Booker, Victor Oladipo and Denzel Valentine, who are for the most part known to be formidable defenders.

Russell was also filmed splashing buckets on teammate Julius Randle, new Dallas Maverick acquisition, Harrison Barnes and NBA Champion, Kyrie Irving… in rapid succession. Note Barnes little bump and how Russell is unfazed by it.

Of course with success often comes failure and such was the case when Russell went up against Jimmy Butler who obviously had enough of the former’s easy buckets.

But it could be that Jimmy Butler just denies all the buckets…

In the past few weeks alone, D’Angelo Russell has proven to be an efficient scorer, especially from outside of the paint which will be of great help next season when he’s put in the pick-and-roll with teammates Larry Nance Jr. Julius Randle and Tarik Black.
