Coming back from a ruptured Achilles in 2014, former Lakers’ forward Xavier Henry recently signed a training camp deal with the Milwaukee Bucks

Most recently seen working out for his former team, the Los Angeles Lakers in what is being called a “Free Agent Mini Camp,” Xavier Henry has reportedly signed a training camp deal with the Milwaukee Bucks per Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Upon reading the mini camp news, it appeared that the team was simply attempting to find players to fill out the roster. However, they ended up doing so by signing Yi Jianlian and Zach Auguste, to the delight of fans everywhere.

Similar to LA’s signing of UCLA alumni Travis Ware, Henry is not guaranteed a position on the actual roster, rather only a shot at proving himself during the team’s training camp. And by quickly glancing at the Buck’s roster it is definitely going to be an uphill battle.

According to CBS Sports, the former 12th overall pick in the 2010 draft, “spent part of last season in the D-League, averaging 15.6 points and 2.9 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game across nine contests for the Santa Cruz Warriors.”

While this is definitely encouraging, even the most casual of fans know that the competition in the D-League is no where near the level of what the NBA represents. For example, just look at the success Anthony Brown was able to find in the D-League last year paired with his consistent struggles in the league for proof.

Regardless, we are wishing Xavier Henry the best. Here’s to hoping that he cracks the Bucks’ roster this year and reminds fans why he was a lottery pick back in 2010.
