A Visit To the 2016 Champions

For the defending NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, this game on December 17th will probably be seen as an easy win and not much thought will be given to it. Yet, for the Lakers young squad, this first of two games against the last year’s champs will be circled on the schedule as a big test for them.

More from Lakers News

As a largely inexperienced and unproven roster, the Lakers will be hyped up for such a big game and might be able to catch the Cavaliers by surprise if they take Walton and company too lightly.

If this happens, the Lakers showed last year that they can take advantage of a mistake like this and make the opponent pay.

Los Angeles did exactly that to the Golden State Warriors this past March when they handed the Warriors one of only 9 losses on the season.

Entering the game with a winning percentage of (.190) compared to Golden Sate’s (.917), the Lakers’ 112-95 blowout win became the biggest upset in NBA history.

Some people may have just written off that win as a fluke, but the Lakers showed they can play with anybody (and win), even the defending NBA champions.
