Even though the Trail Blazers have their star in Damian Lillard at point guard, they will be using the 26th overall pick to add another talented guard into their backcourt.

While the combination of Lillard and C.J. McCollum is one of the best backcourts in the NBA, they haven’t had much behind him. With the selection of Oklahoma State point guard, Jawun Evans, that all changes.

In his second season at Oklahoma State last season, Evans burst onto the scene with a great year. While leading their high-powered offense, Evans averaged 19.2 points, 6.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. Evans was one of the best scorers in the entire country last season, as he finished his college career scoring over 20 points in his last four games.

At the NBA Combine, Evans measured just under 6’0”, however, his 6’5” wingspan should help him make up for what he lacks in height. With a need for some help behind Lillard, Evans will provide the Trail Blazers with not only a backup point guard, but a player that can give them a scoring boost off of the bench. In the later part of the first round, getting a player who nearly averaged 20 points per game in college is good value for the Trail Blazers.
