Los Angeles Lakers advance in Las Vegas Summer League playoffs
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in the play-in round of the Las Vegas Summer League to advance and face off with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers had one of the better games of the Las Vegas Summer League on Wednesday night. The 76ers held the lead for a majority of the game, but the Lakers had a furious come from behind victory in the fourth quarter to take home the victory.
The Lakers only won the fourth quarter, but it was the difference in the game. The Lakers outscored Philadelphia 28-19 en route to a 103-102 win. Philadelphia won the first two quarters and then the teams tied in the third.
The comeback was made possible by Lonzo Ball. Ball has been a huge draw in Las Vegas. He is who many fans have shown up to see and have been the main topic of discussion. After struggling in his first game, fans bashed him relentlessly. He responded with a triple-double.
Ball sat out the last game against the Sacramento Kings with a groin injury and was bashed once again. People thought he was avoiding De’Aaron Fox, but the Lakers were smart to hold him out. Ball once again responded with a huge game to quiet his doubters.
Ball scored 36 points on 12-of-22 from the field. He also added 11 assists, eight rebounds, five steals, and two blocks as he stuffed the stat sheet. Ball took over in the second half as he was unstoppable after halftime.
Ball was a big part of the comeback, but he was not the only Lakers player to do well tonight. Ivica Zubac was a factor down the stretch as he poured in 21 points, including the final two free throws at the end of the game to clinch the win.
