This off-season has done wonders for the future of the Los Angeles Lakers. Selecting Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, and Thomas Bryant gives them fresh new faces that will be around a long time. They also made significant moves via trade and free agency.

Acquiring Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets, and signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope respectively. While doing so, they also traded arguably their worst contract on the team, in Timofey Mozgov.

All of these moves point to one thing; the future. With the season nearing closer let’s take a look at five bold predictions for the Lakers for the 2017-18 season.

Kyle Kuzma averages double digit points

Yes, after his summer league performance, you could say this isn’t that bold of a statement. Let’s keep in mind his early success was in summer league, and he’ll need to prove he can score against NBA defenses. I think he will do just that coming off the bench with the Lakers second unit.

The 27th pick in the 2017 NBA Draft has all the makings of a complete steal. The Lakers acquired the pick in the Brook Lopez/D’Angelo Russell trade with the Brooklyn Nets. From the very first summer practice, he’s impressed the Lakers.

Rob Pelinka said “He just had a spirit in his step, just an aggressiveness and a chip on his shoulder. He plays in attack mode at all times” according to Daniel Starkand of Lakers Nation.

During summer league play, Kuzma averaged 21.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He showed the Lakers staff how versatile he can be and will be a nice addition to this years team off the bench.

I fully expect Kuzma to average between 10-15 points per game. His three point shooting combined with his size and athleticism will allow the Lakers to use him to spread the floor.
