Following an impressive 124-112 victory over the Brooklyn Nets, the Los Angeles Lakers young core proved to have the capability to bounce back after a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Portland Trailblazers on Thursday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers received contributions from everyone in their victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. Though Lonzo Ball only scored six points on 3-of-15 shooting, he dished out seven assists and pulled down five boards.
Ball’s aggressiveness was apparent right from the tip, taking more shots and running the offense at his pace. However, at times Ball practically halted his own production on the floor when solely running through the motions.
Brandon Ingram, on the other hand, has been exhibiting steady growth, following a slow start to the season. Ingram had himself a double-double, scoring 18 points on 53 percent shooting, as well as grabbing 10 rebounds. An exceptional performance despite his initial woes.
If Ingram can remain consistent as well as polish his game, there is no telling what he can mold himself into by the end of the year.

Lastly, Kyle Kuzma has been an absolute stud. In back to back games, Kuzma scored 20+ points on over 50 percent shooting from the field. On Friday, the former Utah product accumulated 21 points and 13 boards in his first NBA career start. His leadership ability and willingness to take shots without hesitation has elevated his stock among the top rookies in the league.
Luke Walton on Kyle Kuzma following Friday’s win:
"He plays really hard all the time and it’s an easy way to earn respect of everyone when you do that."
Although the Lakers will endure their fair share of growing pains, bounce back victories demonstrate fortitude and mental toughness which will only strengthen as the season goes on.
I’m looking forward to what this particular group can turn into once they really begin to gel on all cylinders.
