The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Washington Wizards on Thursday night, 111-95. Check out our recap and some highlights from the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Washington Wizards had their rematch tonight. Unlike the first game, which the Lakers won in overtime, things didn’t go well for Los Angeles tonight.
Washington blew out the Lakers, winning 111-95. Outside of a lopsided second quarter, this game was actually close once again. If you take out the second quarter, the Wizards only outscored the Lakers by six points. Unfortunately, the second quarter counts and it resulted in a one-sided night on the scoreboard.
The defense was the issue tonight for the Lakers. Washington had their way offensively, as they shot 51.8 percent from the field. Four players did a majority of the damage for Washington, as Otto Porter, Markieff Morris, John Wall and Bradley Beal all scored at least 16 points; Morris was the only one not to reach 20.
In the first meeting. the Lakers were able to limit Wall, but that did not happen tonight. Wall played a strong game on both ends of the court. In addition to the game-high 23 points, Wall handed out five assists with eight rebounds, two steals and three blocks.

The Lakers, meanwhile, got nothing going offensively. They shot an abysmal 36 percent from the field and a ghastly 13 percent from deep, making only 3-of-23 from deep. Jordan Clarkson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were the only players on the team to shoot at least 50 percent that attempted more than two shots.
Clarkson made two of the three three-pointers, while the third one came from Lonzo Ball. Ball struggled with his shot, making 3-of-12 and 1-of-7 from deep, but flirted with a triple-double. Ball added eight rebounds and eight assists with two steals for a solid stat line.
The whole starting five scored in double-figures tonight for the Lakers, in addition to Clarkson and Julius Randle off the bench. It was nice to see a balanced scoring attack, but the offense as a whole was sloppy with 19 turnovers and only 17 assists.
