The Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers played an exciting game at the STAPLES Center Wednesday night. Check out our recap and highlights of the game!

The Los Angeles Lakers ended their road trip on a high note defeating the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Their homestand did not get off to as good a start, as the Philadelphia 76ers spoiled the first game of their homestand.

The 76ers would defeat the Lakers 115-109. A matchup between the Lakers and 76ers wouldn’t have drawn many viewers in recent seasons, but that is no longer the case. It was a very exciting game as there were a ton of young, budding stars on the court.

Arguably the brightest of those young stars is Joel Embiid. Embiid’s injury history is well known. However, when he is on the court, he is unstoppable. The Lakers experience that first hand.

Embiid did whatever he wanted. He stuffed the stat sheet with a career game. Embiid scored a career-high 46 points. What was most impressive was that he did it on only 20 shot attempts, going 14-of-20 from the field overall. He made 2-of-3 3-pointers and 16-of-19 from the foul line. The Lakers had no answer, but they made it easy by having Julius Randle defend him in the fourth quarter.

In addition to the career-high in points, Embiid added 14 rebounds, seven assists and seven blocks. Many more shots were altered, as Lakers centers Brook Lopez, Andrew Bogut and Randle shot a combined 8-of-29 fro the field.

The other budding star and leading Rookie of the Year candidate, Ben Simmons, also had himself a game. Simmons nearly triple-doubled, scoring 18 points with 10 assists and nine rebounds. He also added five steals and one block, turning the ball over only once in 39 minutes.

Coming into the game the matchup between Simmons and Lonzo Ball was highly anticipated. That anticipation quickly dissipated as Ball struggled from the opening tip. Once again Ball’s shot failed him as he shot 1-of-9 from the field, making zero of his six 3-point attempts.

He would add five rebounds and two assists, but for a second consecutive game didn’t get into the game in the fourth quarter.

The shining star of the Lakers tonight was Brandon Ingram. Ingram was great from the start, having the best game of his young career. Ingram scored a career-high 26 points on 11-of-18 from the field, adding a career-high 11 rebounds.

This is already the third double-double for Ingram this season after having zero in his rookie season. Three assists and two blocks rounded out a solid stat line.

Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Clarkson also broke the 20-point plateau. Kuzma scored 24 points with seven rebounds, while Clarkson scored 20 off the bench with six rebounds, five assists and two steals.
