The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a disappointing loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers homestand is not off to a good start. After a loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday evening, the Lakers lost again tonight. In the second game of their homestand, the Lakers were defeated by the Phoenix Suns.

This was the third time that the Lakers and Suns had faced off this season. The first two meetings came in Phoenix and the Lakers were victorious in both. Tonight, the Suns returned the favor at the STAPLES Center.

Just like the first two meetings, the Lakers had no answer for Devin Booker. Booker finished the first half on fire with 22 points and six 3-pointers made. He didn’t make any more 3-pointers in the second half but finished with a game-high 33 points. That is the second time this season he has surpassed 30 points scored against Los Angeles.

The Lakers also struggled to contain Alex Len. Len came off the bench and was a difference maker on both ends of the court. He scored 17 points with 18 rebounds as he was dominant on the inside. He also added two assists and two blocks.

As a whole, the Suns’ offense was strong Friday night. The team shot 47.1 percent from the field and 40.6 percent from 3-point land. In addition to Booker and Len, the Suns also had T.J. Warren, Tyler Ulis, Dragan Bender and Troy Daniels score in double-figures.

The Lakers offense wasn’t too shabby either. Los Angeles made 49.5 percent of their shots. The big difference came at the 3-point line, where Los Angeles made only 28 percent.

The Lakers received solid contributions from multiple players. Kyle Kuzma scored a career-high 30 points. What made the scoring output so impressive was that Kuzma had only two points at halftime. It is the sixth time this season he has scored over 20 points this season, the most of any rookie.

Brandon Ingram started the game hot, scoring 12 points with four rebounds and three assists in the first quarter. He cooled down after that, as he finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Brook Lopez and Julius Randle also got into double-digit scoring. Lonzo Ball shot 3-of-7 from the field for six points, adding six rebounds, six assists, five steals and one block.
