The much-anticipated matchup between Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball and Golden State Warriors’ MVP Stephen Curry is finally here.
It was just a few months ago the Los Angeles Lakers were wrapping up their season when LaVar Ball first said his son was better than Stephen Curry. At the time, Lonzo Ball was still a top prospect taking college basketball by storm. But now the time is finally here that these two go head to head, and we’ll see if LaVar was right.
Now 20 games into his career, Lonzo is still adjusting to the NBA competition. But, come Wednesday night, he’ll face arguably the best point guard in the league. Already having faced All-Star caliber guards like John Wall, and Kyrie Irving, Lonzo should know what to expect.
Curry, who is averaging 26.0 points, 6.3 assists and 5.2 rebounds this season, will be a tough task for the Lakers rookie guard.
After a close loss to the Los Angeles Clippers Monday night, Lonzo will be looking to bounce back against the Warriors. With a lackluster game Monday, as he scored only three points, Lonzo will have to play better to keep up with the former 2x MVP.

Lonzo’s had a solid first 20 games into his NBA career, though. In his first 20 games, Lonzo is averaging 8.7 points, 7.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.
These numbers are very similar to soon to be Hall of Famer Jason Kidd‘s stats through his rookie year. Although Ball has a long way to go to be on Kidd’s level, his comparisons to Kidd should give Lakers fans hope.
Hope is what Lonzo has given Laker Nation ever since he was drafted. Already posting two triple-doubles, just days apart from each other, his ceiling is through the roof. If Ball can be half the player Jason Kidd was, the Lakers will be in good hands.
This is the matchup we’ve all wanted to see, but Curry may not be playing Wednesday at 100 percent. Curry missed the Warriors last game with a bruised hand so they won’t both be going in completely healthy.
