The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night at the Spectrum Center. Check out our recap and highlights of the victory!
The Los Angeles Lakers east coast trip is off to a great start. After defeating the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, the Lakers won again tonight. The Lakers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 110-99 for their second consecutive victory.
Once again the leading scorer for the Lakers was Jordan Clarkson off the bench. Clarkson saved his best for last, scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter. For the game, Clarkson scored 22 points. He also added six assists, five rebounds and one steal for a well-rounded game. Clarkson was aggressive all game and helped the Lakers take control in the fourth quarter.
In addition to Clarkson, the Lakers received a strong game once again from Julius Randle and Kyle Kuzma with the second unit. Both scored 12 points. Randle added six rebounds, three assists, one steal and two blocks. Kuzma pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds with two assists and a highlight block.
Clarkson’s performance kept Lonzo Ball on the bench, but he played well. Ball finished the game with five points, five rebounds and nine assists in 27 minutes.

Brandon Ingram provided a scoring punch as well. He scored 18 points with six rebounds, one assist and one block. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Brook Lopez also scored in double-figures with 15 and 13 points respectively.
For the Hornets, their leading scorer was Kemba Walker. The Lakers struggled to slow down the ooffensive-minded guard at times but got stops when they needed them. Dwight Howard had a good game against his old team, scoring 21 points with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
There wasn’t much defense in this game in the first half, but the Lakers turned things up in the second half. After allowing 56 points in the first half, the Lakers surrendered only 43 in the second.
Overall, the Hornets shot 44.1 percent from the field and 32 percent from deep. The Lakers shot an impressive 50.6 percent from deep and 33.3 percent from the 3-point line.

The Lakers improved their record to 10-15 with the victory. They have won the first two games of their road trip and will look to make it three in a row on Tuesday. The Lakers will be paying a visit to the New York Knicks on Tuesday evening.
