Los Angeles Lakers News: Head coach Luke Walton believes Brandon Ingram’s confidence is rubbing off on his teammates.

Recent Los Angeles Lakers news revolves around small forward Branon Ingram. Ingram has looked great in his second season in the NBA. After struggling throughout his rookie season, Ingram looks like a totally different player in his second season.

Ingram worked hard during the offseason to improve his game. He revamped his diet hoping to help reshape his body. That, in addition to endless hours in the gym, added some strength to Ingram’s frame and it has shown. Ingram is attacking the basket with more consistency and finishing better through the contact. It has resulted in increased scoring average and efficiency.

Ingram is looking like a much more confident player. Offensively he wants the ball in his hands. Against the Washington Wizards, he attacked the basket and missed the layup. However, he was able to get the rebound and put it back to send the game to overtime.

Against the Philadelphia 76ers last week Ingram knocked down the game-winning 3-pointer with less than one second remaining in the game off a great pass from Lonzo Ball. Ingram looked confidence in both situations, which he has shown on both ends of the court.

Head coach Luke Walton spoke about Ingram’s boost in confidence, via the team’s Twitter account.  Walton believes that Ingram’s confidence is beginning to rub off on his teammates.

"“As an organization, we’d tell you we knew this was where he was going to go. We just didn’t know when. It’s nice to see him transfer it over to games and doing it on the big stage. It definitely gives our team a little extra confidence, and he seems to be playing with a lot of confidence himself.”"

Ingram’s game has evolved a lot from his rookie season to where he is now. There is no questions about where the ball will go when the Lakers need a basket. Ingram is their go-to scorer, something he wouldn’t have at last season.

Ingram is leading the team with 16.2 points per game. That is a big improvement on the 9.4 he averaged last season. Ingram has improved across the board, not just in the scoring department. In addition to his points, his rebounds, assists, steals and blocks have increased as well.

Ingram is only in his second season, but he is someone the Lakers are relying on and have high expectations for. To show this kind of improvement in just a year’s time is impressive. The Lakers are hoping that he can continue improving as the season goes on and that his teammates take notice.
