The matchup between Smith Jr. and Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball will be one to keep an eye on. Ball has played well against the other point guards in this year’s draft class, as he is coming off an 18 point, 10 rebound, six assist performance against De’Aaron Fox. Ball also had a strong game against Frank Ntilikina of the New York Knicks.
The return of Ball to the lineup has gotten the Lakers back on track. Los Angeles lost all six games that Ball missed because of a shoulder injury, but has gone 3-1 since he returned to the lineup. In addition to Ball, the Lakers also got Brook Lopez back in the lineup, so their rotations are starting to fall into place.
The victories have come at a good time for Luke Walton, as the team has seemed to rally around LaVar Ball taking another shot at him. LaVar said that Walton had lost the team, to which they have responded with three consecutive victories.
