The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. Check out our recap and highlights of the game.
The Los Angeles Lakers losing streak is now at two games. For the second time this season, the Oklahoma City Thunder blew out the Lakers. This time, at Chesapeake Energy Arena, the Lakers lost 114-90.
The Lakers were without starting point guard Lonzo Ball for the second consecutive game. Like the game Monday, and the six previous games they played without Ball this season, they just were unable to compete.
Without Ball in the lineup, their record is 0-8 this season. Like the previous seven, this one got ugly. The shorthanded Lakers battled early on, but the talent of the Thunder eventually took over in the second half.
After getting to halftime trailing by only six points, the Lakers were blown out in the third quarter. Oklahoma City took control after intermission, winning that quarter by 15 points and putting things out of reach.

Tonight, the Lakers had no answer for Carmelo Anthony. Anthony went to school on the young Lakers, opening up his whole bag of tricks en route to a 27-point performance. In addition to Anthony, the Thunder also received double-digit scoring efforts from Paul George, Russell Westbrook and Steven Adams.
The Thunder offense saw little resistance all game. They shot 48.4 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from deep. Where they really embarrassed the Lakers was on the glass.
The Thunder pulled down 21 offensive rebounds out of the 49 shots that they missed. That led to a huge 54-30 rebounding edge for Oklahoma City.
Ball is an integral part of the Lakers success, as he is second on the team in rebounding and leads the team in rebounding. Ball is also important to the team’s defense, and how important he is isn’t evident to some people until he is out of the lineup.
In addition to Ball, the Lakers now have multiple injuries to worry. Kyle Kuzma injured his hand in the second half and was forced out of the game. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope also injured his ankle in the first half and didn’t return to the game.
With so many injuries occurring, and the game being a blowout, the highest minutes played was 26 minutes by Josh Hart and Julius Randle. Randle led the team with 16 points. Caldwell-Pope was the only other Lakers player to reach double-figures.
