Alex Caruso has finally been getting a chance with the Los Angeles Lakers and he is trying to make the most of the opportunity.
One of the stars for the Los Angeles Lakers during their Summer League Championship run this summer was Alex Caruso. While both Kyle Kuzma and Lonzo Ball received most of the attention, there were multiple players that performed well for the Lakers this summer.
Caruso was able to make a name for himself in Las Vegas, as he played very well at the guard position and gave the Lakers solid minutes throughout the tournament. Due to his success in Las Vegas, the Lakers decided to give Caruso one of their two-way deals, as he certainly deserved it.
Due to injuries in their starting backcourt recently, Caruso has been getting minutes for the Lakers in the NBA, and he is trying to make the most out of it. Due to the fact that he can only be with the team for 45 days, Caruso knows that every day is important. Recently, Caruso spoke with Matthew Moreno of LakersNation.com about the opportunity that he has been given recently.
"“I’m keeping track. I’ve got to make the most of them,” Caruso said. “Getting opportunities like this is what guys in my position live for. I’m getting better in each game, just getting acclimated to it and getting comfortable. I think that’s starting to show.”"
So far, Caruso is making the most of the opportunities given to him in his last two games. While the Lakers are on a modest two-game winning streak against the Pacers and the Knicks, Caruso has played big minutes in both games.
On Sunday, Caruso really shined with nine points, eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Getting production from the point guard spot without Ball has been tricky for the Lakers, but they might have found an answer with Caruso.
