Los Angeles Lakers: Recap and highlights vs Boston Celtics
Check out our recap and highlights of the Los Angeles Lakers victory over the Boston Celtics!
The Los Angeles Lakers are streaking! The Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night 108-107 to run their running streak to three games. Los Angeles exacted some revenge on Boston, as the Celtics defeated them back in November at the TD Garden, 107-96.
This is one of the best wins of the season for the Lakers, as the Celtics are currently pacing the Eastern Conference and have the third-best winning percentage in the NBA.
Once again, it was the bench that was the driving force for the Lakers. Kyle Kuzma went off, as he carried the offense for a stretch in the fourth quarter. At one point, Kuzma was responsible for 15 consecutive points by either scoring or assisting on a basket.
In the fourth quarter, Kuzma poured in 17 of his 28 points. The 17 points scored are the most by a single player in a quarter this season by a Lakers play. With Brandon Ingram and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope struggling with their shot, it was great to see Kuzma pick up the scoring load.

Kuzma wasn’t the only bench player to carry the offense. Jordan Clarkson also had a strong game. Clarkson poured in 22 points, also adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. This was the third consecutive strong game for Clarkson, as he has picked things up with the Lakers backcourt hit hard by injuries.
The Lakers had three more players finish in double-figures, as Larry Nance Jr. scored 11 off the bench, while Julius Randle and Brook Lopez scored 14 and 12 respectively in the starting lineup.
Randle was a difference maker inside for the Lakers. He banged down low with the likes of Al Horford, Marcus Smart and Aron Baynes all night. Randle found some success, as he also pulled down 14 rebounds. Randle’s aggressiveness on the boards helped the Lakers win the rebounding battle 51-42.
While the victory was impressive, the Lakers did all they could to lose the game. Free throw shooting has been a troubling trend all season, and it was once again against the Celtics.
Los Angeles shot a putrid 21-of-36 from the foul line, equaling out to 58.3 percent. Scarily, that is actually an improvement from their performance over the weekend against the Indiana Pacers, when they shot 2-of-14 yet still found a way to win.
For the Celtics, Kyrie Irving led the way with 33 points. Marcus Smart scored 22 off the bench, missing what would have been the game-winning shot at the buzzer after Caldwell-Pope missed two free throws.
