The Los Angeles Lakers got back to their winning ways against the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers had a strong rebound game on Friday night against the Brooklyn Nets. After being handed an embarrassing loss by the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, the Lakers got back on the right track at the Barclays Center.

The Lakers would defeat the Nets 102-99 in what was a close game throughout. For the Lakers, it was their defense that eventually got them the victory.

The Lakers defense really stepped up in crunch time. They held the Nets to only 14 points in the fourth quarter, snapping a five-game streak in which they allowed at least 100 points.

In the fourth quarter, the Lakers were able to adjust their defensive scheme and it worked. Previously, point guard Spencer Dinwiddie and former Laker D’Angelo Russell were finding success attacking the basket. In the fourth quarter, the Lakers perimeter defense clamped down, as Dinwiddie shot 1-for-4 and Russell was 2-for-7.

That was integral to the Lakers squeaking out the three-point victory on the road. The Lakers also defended the 3-point line well, as Brooklyn shot only 9-of-29 from distance. Los Angeles, on the other hand, made more 3-pointers on fewer attempts, knocking down a solid 10-of-26 from deep.

Another factor in the victory was the dominance on the glass. The Lakers outrebounded the Nets 56-38. Brooklyn had only five offensive rebounds in the game, while Los Angeles had 18.

Josh Hart actually led the team in rebounding, pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds. It is the third time that Hart has surpassed double-digit rebounds, recording his third double-double in the process. Julius Randle also had a double-double, scoring 19 points with 12 rebounds.

Rande was tied for the team-high in scoring with Brook Lopez. For the second time, this season against his former team, Lopez had a strong game. He set the tone early and was a catalyst in the fourth quarter, getting rare crunch time minutes. Lopez finished the game with 19 points, three rebounds and three blocks.
