Check out our recap from the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night.

The Los Angeles Lakers winning streak was snapped on Saturday night. The Lakers got into a shootout with the Dallas Mavericks at the American Airlines Center and were unable to keep up.

The Lakers lost the game 130-123. We haven’t seen as poor a defensive showing from the Lakers in a while. There are a few factors that could go into it. Could it have been adjusting to the new players, as Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr. were traded Thursday at the deadline? Or maybe the Lakers are feeling the impact of not having Lonzo Ball in the lineup again.

The Lakers were incapable of getting any stops when they were needed. Dallas shot 53.9 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from 3-point land. The Mavericks had six players score in double-figures, led by the timeless Dirk Nowitzki with 22 points.

Nowitzki needed only 24 minutes to do his damage against the Lakers. Harrison Barnes also broke the 20 point plateau, pouring in 21. Off the bench, Dwight Powell scored 19. Only two Mavericks, Yogi Ferrell and Dennis Smith Jr. failed to make at least half of their shot attempts.

The Lakers offense was actually more efficient than the Mavericks offense. They made 54.8 percent from the field and 47.1 percent from the 3-point line. Where they cost themselves was the foul line, where the Lakers made only 68.2 percent and the Mavericks knocked down 81.5 percent.

The Lakers also had six players score in double-figures. Julius Randle continues to dominate, as he led the way with 26 points, adding eight rebounds and seven assists. Tied for second on the team was Brandon Ingram and the newly acquired Isaiah Thomas.

Both Ingram and Thomas poured in 22 points, with Thomas’ production coming off the bench. In addition to the 22 points, Thomas also handed out six assists. Brook Lopez, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma also broke double-figures.

While the Lakers scored a lot, they were sloppy at times. 17 turnovers hurts, especially when you force only nine by your opponent.

This was a disappointing loss for the Lakers given their recent performance. Had they brought even a little effort on the defensive end, they would have come away with an easy victory. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen and the Lakers lost the game.
