The Los Angeles Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks February 23rd, 2018 at the STAPLES Center. Here is all the information you need to watch or listen to the game!
The Los Angeles Lakers are returning to the court tonight. The Lakers haven’t played since February 15th as the NBA just wrapped up their All-Star break. The Lakers get back in action tonight against the Dallas Mavericks.
Tonight will be the third matchup between the Lakers and Mavericks this season. It is also their second matchup in the Lakers last four games. The Mavericks picked up a victory over the Lakers on February 10th, 130-123.
The Lakers won the first matchup against the Mavericks on January 13th, 107-101 in overtime. Both of those games were played at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The remaining two matchups will be played at the STAPLES Center, starting tonight.
The Lakers could be getting a boost to their lineup. Rookie point guard Lonzo Ball, who has missed 15 consecutive games with a knee strain, is hoping to return to the lineup tonight. If it was up to him, he would be in the lineup tonight.
However, the decision, ultimately, may not be up to him. The Lakers don’t have much incentive to rushing Ball back unless he is 100 percent healthy. If the medical staff feels he is not up to par, it is unlikely we see Ball on the court tonight.

If Ball does return, it will be interesting to see what lineup changes Luke Walton makes. Walton has adjusted his lineups with Ball out, as Brandon Ingram has essentially taken over the starting point guard duties. Josh Hart has replaced Ball in the lineup, and the five-man group of those two along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Julius Randle and Brook Lopez has fared well.
There is also the question of what to do with the newly acquired Isaiah Thomas. How many minutes will Thomas receive with Ball back in the lineup? Can Ball and Thomas play alongside each other in the backcourt? It is all things we could start seeing tonight.
One thing we know for sure is that the Lakers need to bring a better effort defensively if they are going to improve upon the last time these two teams matched up. The Mavericks got whatever they wanted, as the Lakers defense fell off a cliff heading into the All-Star break.
Will that change with some days off? Or will the Lakers struggles continue, extending their four-game losing streak? We will have to watch and find out! Here is all the information you need to watch or listen to the game between the Lakers and Mavericks tonight.
