Los Angeles Lakers recap, highlights vs San Antonio Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers are on a roll out of the All-Star break. Tonight, they faced their stiffest test of since the break, paying a visit to the San Antonio Spurs. That didn’t stop the Lakers, as they kept right on rolling.
The Lakers defeated the Spurs 116-112, running their winning streak to five consecutive games. The Spurs, on the other hand, have lost two consecutive games, dropping them in the uber-competitive Western Conference.
The Lakers caught a break tonight as the Spurs without LaMarcus Aldridge. Aldridge joined Kawhi Leonard on the sidelines tonight. However, things were evened out in the injury depart some as Brandon Ingram was sidelined with a strained hip flexor. He joined Josh Hart out of the lineup, who fractured his left hand earlier this week.
Picking up a victory without two starters, on the road nonetheless, is an impressive feat for the Lakers. That is something that would have never happened earlier in the season.

A big reason for the come from behind victory tonight was Julius Randle. Randle continues to dominate in the starting lineup, and tonight was no different. Randle scored 25 points with six rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.
Every Lakers starter finished the game in double-figures tonight. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had a double-double, scoring 18 points with a team-high 13 rebounds. Caldwell-Pope has really begun picking things up for the Lakers, which is much needed with Hart sidelined. He rounded out his stat line with two assists and three steals.
With Hart sidelined, Lonzo Ball started for the second consecutive game. Once again, Ball played extremely well. Ball had a double-double of his own, scoring 18 points with 11 assists. He also added seven rebounds, one steal and two blocks for good measure. His 3-point shot was really on, as he knocked down 6-of-10 from deep, including three in the fourth quarter.
Off the bench, Isaiah Thomas provided a spark. He scored 21 points, adding seven assists. Where Thomas was really helpful was at the foul line, where he made 8-for-8. He helped ice the game at the end.
Foul shooting has been a problem for the Lakers throughout the season, but tonight they were solid. Los Angeles shot 21-of-27 from the charity stripe, equaling out to 77.8 percent. The Lakers also found success from 3-point land, knocking down 44.1 percent, making 15-of-34. Kyle Kuzma, Brook Lopez and Caldwell-Pope all made multiple 3-pointers in addition to Ball’s six.
Travis Wear made his Lakers debut tonight and was thrown right into the fire. He played 13 minutes, scoring seven points with two rebounds, playing important minutes down the stretch.
For the short-handed Spurs, the ageless Pau Gasol led the way with 19 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Off the bench, Rudy Gay scored 15 points.

With the victory tonight, the Lakers record has improved to 28-34 overall. They had an impressive winning streak, as they swept the four games away from the STAPLES Center. The Lakers will return home and look to keep their winning ways going on Monday night. They will be going up against another playoff contender, as the Lakers will be hosting the Portland Trail Blazers.
