The Los Angeles Lakers were defeated by the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night. Check out our recap and highlights of the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers picked up a nice victory over the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday evening. However, the work wasn’t done, as that was the first of their back-to-back set. Things wouldn’t get easier, as the second night was against the Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, the Lakers didn’t have enough to knock off the Warriors. Los Angeles was tied with Golden State at halftime, but ran out of gas in the second half, losing the game 117-106.

This was actually the worst loss the Lakers had against the Warriors this season. The previous three games were all decided by single-digits, the first two of which went into overtime. The Lakers were unable to break through in any of those games, as the Warriors swept the season series.

Tonight, Kevin Durant led the way for Golden State. With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and David West all sidelined, Durant was the alpha dog. He scored a game-high 26 points. He added six assists, five rebounds, two steals and one block as well.

The Warriors offense clicked throughout the evening. They made 55 percent of their shots, as six teammates joined Durant in scoring double-figures. Nick Young had a strong game against his former team, scoring 18 points in the starting lineup.

The Lakers also had a different lineup tonight with injuries besetting them. Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma all missed the game. The Lakers were so shorthanded, the recently acquired Derrick Williams even got into the game.

As a result of the injuries, Isaiah Thomas was inserted into the starting lineup alongside Lonzo Ball and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the backcourt.

Without three of their better rebounders, the Lakers were crushed on the glass. Golden State outrebounded Los Angeles 50-33. Julius Randle did his part on the boards, grabbing 10 rebounds to go along with 22 points.

Brook Lopez continued his strong play, as he poured in 20 points as well. Thomas also reached the 20 point plateau, as he looked good in the starting lineup.

Facing the Warriors when you are at full strength is difficult enough. Missing three rotation players makes it even more difficult. While the Warriors were also shorthanded, the Lakers were not able to steal a victory.
