Recent Los Angeles Lakers news isn’t great, as Brandon Ingram suffered another injury on Friday night against the Milwaukee Bucks.
A lot of the recent Los Angeles Lakers news has revolved around injuries. Los Angeles has been hit hard in recent weeks by the injury bug. After coming out of the All-Star break hot, their momentum has been stalled by players missing time.
Channing Frye missed multiple weeks because of an appendectomy. Josh Hart fractured his left hand on Feb. 26. Brandon Ingram suffered a strained hip on March 1st. Once they began to return to the lineup, more injuries popped up.
Most recently, Lonzo Ball suffered a knee bruise to the same knee he strained earlier in the season, and Isaiah Thomas opted to undergo surgery on his right hip. Ball missed the game against the Bucks and is considered day-to-day. Thomas will not be playing the remainder of the season.
With both Ball and Thomas hampered, the Lakers are short on players to run the offense. When Ball was sidelined with his knee strain, Ingram ran the show. He did it again against the Bucks, unfortunately, he suffered another injury.
Ingram suffered a neck muscle contusion against Milwaukee on Friday night. One positive from the diagnosis is that Ingram cleared the concussion test, as preliminary results came back negative. Ingram will be re-evaluated prior to the Lakers’ game on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings.

It sounds as though Ingram has avoided any major injuries, which is a positive. Ingram was in the concussion protocol following the game, but he has cleared that hurdle at least.
Given where we are in the season, the Lakers are sure to show extreme caution with one of their franchise building blocks.
Ingram is having a breakout season in his second in the NBA. After struggling throughout most of his rookie season, Ingram is putting up career numbers across the board. He has played with much more confidence and is developing into a go-to player for the Lakers.
If Ingram is unable to suit up, the Lakers could be very short-handed against the Kings on Sunday evening. Hart would see another heavy workload, as he would be relied upon to play some point guard.
