Los Angeles Lakers: Who Kyle Kuzma really is off the court
Lake Show Life scored big recently when the Mtn Dew team reached out to us about a new content series. The first episode of it featured none other than Kyle Kuzma.
Los Angeles Lakers youngsters such as Kyle Kuzma played in this year’s Rising Stars Challenge in Los Angeles. What many fans may not recall, however, is that Mountain Dew was marketing its newly minted beverage Kickstart all weekend long at the time.
The brand created a unique experience called “Courtside Studios” for fans right outside of Staples Center. One of the primary attractions included a stacked list of athletes that were interviewed.
Not too long ago, though, Mountain Dew decided to elevate their game even more. Mountain Dew unleashed its new Kickstart Rising Stars Content Series, a series hosted by former NBA star Baron Davis.
The series is yet another step along the way to promote Mountain Dew’s Kickstart drink. However, its goal is to also get a closer, more personalized look at some of this year’s Rising Stars. Their first episode featured the immensely talented Kuzma. How cool is that, folks!

Davis caught up with Kuzma in none other than the bustling city of Los Angeles. The former immediately gave props to Kuzma, anointing him as L.A.’s “godson.” That is quite a compliment given that “Kuuuz” is coming off his first year in the NBA.
It says a lot, though, about how far Kuzma has come in such a tight time frame. He has proven that he belongs in the City of Angels. He has shown that he is worthy of donning the purple and gold.
Once the kind words were exchanged, the series’ host started to dig deeper. Davis’ central ambition was to get to know some of Kuzma’s lesser-known details. The same will be true when the series progresses.
When Davis asked Kuzma about his background, the Lakers’ young blood revealed his Flint, Michigan roots. The 22-year-old admitted that living in a rougher neighborhood thus made it difficult to establish a name for himself. Los Angeles “godson” did not have it easy by any means.
In spite of his challenging upbringing, Kuzma never made excuses for himself. Rather, it is feasible to say the ballplayer used that as inspiration to outwork his peers. Certainly, his hard work has paid off up to this point in time.
Davis also queried Kuzma about topics such as his fashion selection. Kuzma’s wardrobe choices this year were unconventional every now and again, therefore piquing Davis’ interest. I will be honest that it was impossible to not chuckle during this part of the episode.
More details about these subject matters and others can be found in the video clip below. I enjoyed getting to learn more about Kuzma and getting a stronger taste of his demeanor. The authentic personalities of athletes are not seen all the time. On that note, getting greater perspective was truly a treat.
