Former Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Nick Young respects what Lonzo Ball and the Ball family are doing with the Big Baller Brand.

Los Angeles Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball faces a lot of expectations on the court. As the No. 2 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, Ball has high expectations to help turn the Lakers around. During his rookie season, he showed some of those flashes.

Ball averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. While his shooting numbers weren’t pretty, Ball was a difference maker on the court. His defense was also better than expected, an added bonus to go along with his playmaking abilities.

While we have seen Lonzo on the court, he is also succeeding off the court. Lonzo puts work in at the studio as a rapper. He also has his own line under the Big Baller Brand, the company owned by his father, LaVar Ball.

The ZO2 collection under the Big Baller Brand is Lonzo’s personal collection. There is a wide collection of shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, pants and hats in addition to his own signature shoes.

Plenty of people have taken notice of Ball both on the court and off the court as well. One player who has taken notice, especially with the off-court ventures, is former Lakers shooting guard Nick Young.

Young is a businessman himself. He has a clothing line, “Most Hated” that he has built over the years. Young spent four seasons with the Lakers, a wonderful spot to be for someone looking to build their brand off the court.

Building a brand is something that Lonzo and his family are looking to do as well. It is partly why they were hopeful Lonzo would be selected by the Lakers, in addition to him growing up a Lakers fan.

Developing a brand isn’t something that is easy to do. Young has seemingly done it, and he respects what Ball family is trying to do with their own brand.

Young recently told Lawrence Schlossman of Grailed how he felt about the Big Baller Brand from afar.

"“Yeah, that’s so important marketing-wise, image-wise, especially now that the NBA is global. It’s fashion. It’s everything. Look at Ball. He’s got his own brand. Nobody thought about that. That’s daring. I respect it.”"

No player has entered the NBA with what Ball has. He has his own signature shoe that isn’t from one of the big shoe companies. He is featured on a Facebook, Ball In The Family, show centered around the happenings of the Ball family.

The company has grown with all of the free publicity they receive. Jordan Crawford of the New Orleans Pelicans began wearing Big Baller Brand sneakers at the end of the season. LiAngleo and LaMelo heading overseas created a brand new market to tap into.

If Lonzo continues to improve and the Lakers really take off and start winning, the Big Baller Brand could really take off.
