Nevada F, Cody Martin

The Lakers had Nevada forward Caleb Martin in for a workout in the second group. In the third group, his twin brother, and fellow Nevada forward, Cody Martin, took part.

While Caleb is known for his scoring prowess and took home Mountain West Player of the Year, Cody is no slouch. Cody was named Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year, as he averaged 1.7 steals and 1.5 blocks per game. The steals were the second highest mark in the conference, while the blocks were fourth.

Martin is similar to Josh Hart, as he excels playing off the ball as a cutter and attacking the basket. However, Martin does not have a great jump shot, as he made only 18 3-pointers in his collegiate career. He also shot under 60 percent from the foul line in two seasons at North Carolina State before making 70.1 percent at Nevada.

Like Hart, however, he stuffs the stat sheet. In addition to the defensive numbers, Martin also averaged 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. The 4.7 assists ranked second in the conference.

Martin is someone that profiles as a hustle and energy play. He does all the dirty work on the floor and has the versatility to defend multiple positions. It would not be a surprise to see him make a Summer League roster and earn a spot on a team even if he goes undrafted.
